We take as much care on our selection of draught
beers as we do with our food. Where possible we source local products from the
best of Cornish brewers. Amongst the ales generally featured are:
Betty Stogs abv 4.0% From Skinners brewery in
Truro, Betty is a hoppy and flavoursome brew. It won gold in last years
Cornish real ales festival.
Doom Bar abv 4.0% From Sharps brewery in Rock, Doom is a
classic English bitter which won a bronze in the CAMRA national real ale
festival in London last year.
Tribute abv 4.2% From one of the oldest brewers in
Cornwall St Austell's, Tribute is South West England's most popular bitter according
to a recent poll carried out by the Telegraph and CAMRA.
Cornish Rattler abv 6.0% Brewed by Cornish cider farms this
traditionally cloudy cider has a remarkably refreshing apple zestiness totally
lacking in the characterless national brews sold in many outlets.
Skinners Cornish Lager abv 4.8% This lager has an almost ale like flavour but is served extra cold and is a refreshing summer drink for ale and lager drinkers alike.
Nastro Azzuro Peroni abv 5.0% The trouble with continental lager is as soon as it starts to be brewed under license in the UK it becomes as bland as all other lagers brewed by the nationals. Peroni is directly imported from Rome and is an excellent example of what a true continental lager should taste like.
Carling Extra Cold abv 4.1% Okay we have to have one mass market lager it might as well be the most popular one!
Guiness abv 4.1% Until the last few years Guiness in this country was a pale imitation of its Dublin counterpart. Thank goodness the Irish have had the sense to stop this fabulous product being cheapened by the awful way in which it was brewed in this country. Guiness now all comes direct from the Dublin brewery and ours according to one of our recent Irish visitors is the best they've tasted outside Dublin!
